Dark Chocolate Milk Stout

If you're a fan of dark chocolate and beer, you're in for a treat! A dark chocolate milk stout is a rich and decadent beer that combines the bittersweet flavors of dark chocolate with the smooth creaminess of milk stout. But before we dive into the deliciousness of this beer style, let's look at the history of one of the key ingredients used in its creation: milk.

In Huntley, Illinois, there was once a dairy factory called Borden's Dairy. It was founded by Gail Borden Jr., who invented a process for condensing milk. This process allowed milk to be transported more easily and stored without spoiling. Borden's invention revolutionized the dairy industry and made milk more accessible to people worldwide. Borden's Dairy in Huntley was known for producing high-quality milk, which was used to produce various dairy products, now including ingredients for our milk stout.

In honor of the Borden heritage, we created the Borden Street Stout. Did we mention that our building is the original Bordan Dairy plant? So, the connection to Borden Street runs deep! Dark chocolate and milk stouts are typically made with roasted malts, which give the beer its dark color and rich flavor. Milk sugar (lactose) is added to the brew, giving the beer its creamy texture and sweetness. The addition of dark chocolate provides a bittersweet chocolate flavor that perfectly complements the roasted malt and lactose sweetness. We enhance the dark chocolate with familiar favorites like salted caramel, smores, or cookies. The result is a beer that tastes like a delicious dessert in a glass. If you love stouts and chocolate, try our dark chocolate milk stout. And the next time you're drinking one, take a mome

In the latter years of the 19th century, farmers in Huntley produced more milk to the square mile than any other area in the world. In 1907, Bordens built a milk processing plant on Borden Street. We honor that heritage with our Borden Street milk stout. The Borden Street stout combines sweet tones and lactose in a stout with flavors from your favorite sweet and savory candy. Enjoy this one by the pint! (Huntley, IL)
